Nine faculties of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona incorporate the skills test to assess the skills demanded in the labour market

Barcelona, 24 May 2024

Barcelona Activa and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) are making progress in an agreement to accompany students in accessing the labour market. The two organisations are working together to enhance competencies and soft skills, which have a high value for companies when selecting and promoting talent.

A total of nine UAB faculties have incorporated the skills test of Barcelona Activa with the aim of assessing the students' skills. The tool allows a self-diagnosis to identify strengths and aspects to improve in order to respond to the companies' demands. Nearly 4,000 students of very varied degrees will participate to analyse the level in 21 relevant skills in the labour market.

Based on the project, the two entities will design the training pathways that will be implemented during the 2024-2025 academic year. In addition to the skills test, the agency works to strengthen personal skills and enhance citizens' soft skills. Specific training to boost skills is being offered such as communication, empathy or teamwork. From the areas of entrepreneurship and employment, networking sessions are also organised to learn about the demands of different sectors.
