530 unemployed people have found work thanks to the Comprehensive Hiring Projects (PICs) programme, promoted to foster direct hiring and orientation in the labour market

Barcelona, 17 Sep 2024

Last Friday, the annual event took place in the MediaTIC building in appreciation of and recognition for the work carried out by users of the Comprehensive Hiring Projects (PICs).

This project is one of the programmes promoted by Barcelona Activa to promote direct recruitment, support and guidance in the labour market and which offers people with the most difficulty in finding work the possibility of working for a minimum of six months in an employment project of inclusive hiring.

The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has emphasised that the objective of the initiative is that "all people, regardless of their age or personal or work situation, must have the opportunity to find a job”.

In the 2024 edition, Barcelona City Council has hired 530 people who were unemployed. The majority of these contracts have been linked to the America’s Cup and the Pla Endreça (Tidy-up Plan) in the areas of maintenance and improvement of public space and the promotion of civic behaviour and coexistence, contributing to making Barcelona a more well-kept city and friendly with the neighbours.

With support and accompaniment in the job search process, one in every two people rejoin the labour market within six months. Consult news about PICs in 20 Minutos and Europa Press and you can find more information on the website.
