Barcelona, 19 Jul 2024

Barcelona City Council has presented the Plan for Quality Youth Employment (POJQ) 2024-2030 with a budget of 100 million euros to create quality employment, reduce youth unemployment and retain young talent. This plan will serve 30,000 young people annually and collaborates with various entities to develop projects such as the Office FP Empreses (Vocational Training Companies) and the Crea Feina grants.

Jaume Collboni, Mayor of Barcelona, highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for young people so that they can train and work in Barcelona, without having to leave the city. The POJQ seeks to adapt to changes in the labour market and promote quality employment in a context of technological and cultural transformation.

To implement this plan, the City Council is working with Barcelona Activa, the City Council's Youth Department, the Barcelona Education Consortium and the BCNFP Foundation, in addition to the city's main economic and social stakeholders. This collaboration is key to addressing the eight challenges and the ten strategic lines that the Plan for Quality Youth Employment has identified to guarantee the success of youth employment policies.
