Barcelona Activa expands its investment in technological training to broaden the professional opportunities for citizens.
Barcelona, 19 Sep 2024
This Wednesday an institutional visit was made to the IT Academy, Barcelona Activa's technological training centre, where it was announced that 3,500 people will be trained in web programming and data analysis between 2025 and 2029.
To achieve this, Barcelona Activa has opened a tender of 11.6 million euros for up to 8 lots so that leading companies in technology can offer training in the IT Academy.
The specialised digital courses are free of charge and open to everyone, regardless of their previous technological knowledge. The trainings consist of a period focused on the basics, where students can independently learn basic aspects of technology and programming, and an onsite specialisation phase, where mentors accompany and train students for 18 weeks.
Since 2018, the IT Academy technological training centre has trained nearly 3,200 people in profiles such as web development (front-end and back-end) and Data Analytics.
The training actions and expert support have made it possible for the centre's job placement rate to grow to 84%, with a participation of 40% women, a figure that far exceeds the average for professionals in the technology sector in Barcelona.
